Website Launched to Help Rural Areas – 4th June 2009

A website to assist with the delivery of £16.7million of funding within the rural council areas of Craigavon, Armagh and Newry and Mourne is now available to all.

www.soarni.org is a new website for the Southern Organisation for Action in Rural areas (SOAR).

SOAR supports the rural economy and improves the quality of life of those people that work and live there by increasing employment, attracting visitors and increasing the income of rural communities. Local people are involved in the decision making process of how these funds are delivered.

Alderman Sydney Anderson, Chairman of the Joint Committee says of the new website,

“With the SOAR website up and running, information about funding can be found more quickly and easily. I would encourage people to get online and use this website to apply for grant funding.”

Chairman of the Local Action Group Mr.Miceal McCoy stated:”Access to information is a key element which project promoters require whenever making important decisions in respect of their applications and the SOAR website has been designed to assist local people with easy to read pages.”

SOAR was launched in February 2009 at Craigavon Civic and Conference Centre by the Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Michelle Gildernew.
